Bold divorce moves.

New Ford spot shows ex-husband out for a weekend with his ex- and their kids. Mommy and daddy still friends, natch. (As you know, divorced couples all get along.) So he gets dropped off in Ford Comfort at the end of the weekend. Besides the previous issues of mixed messages this Bold campaign sends, the guy gets a beachfront condo and she gets a Ford? Which would you rather have?

It would have been a bold move if mom’s unemployed 18-year-old boyfriend would have been invited to join the weekend trip too.

My wife and I separated in November and we have a young son. When I saw this commercial I couldn't tell if I wanted to laugh or cry. Then it struck me that this could and maybe does happen more than I know. My ex and I aren't the best of friends but we try to get along and are getting better at it. It's much easier now that we aren't forced to interact on a daily basis. My ex saw the commercial and at the onset was thinking how sick she is of seeing happy family in their SUV's traversing the countryside. Then then end came and made her say, "Huh?" So what's our collective take on the whole thing? We are planning our own roadtrip to take our son to see her relatives in TX. Bold moves indeed!

On one hand I think it's great that they're showing divorced women with kids in advertising. As far as I know, this isn't too common. On the other hand, it make people think that this is the norm - that all exes should be happy and all divorces are amicable. (Or, that if you buy a Ford you'll get along with your ex.)

Either way, I think it's great that they're showing a single mom in advertising. Now let's see some gay families with children.

just wanted to say I dug this commercial. While it's rare, my ex and I, currently, get along this well and it was nice to see a major player such as ford take a gamble on this. I'm so bloody sick of the perfect lifes commercials and products want you to think are happening all around to everyone but you. KUDOS TO FORD... I still won't drive one though :)

I guess divorce has just gotten a lot better these days than I remember it to be.
