Took in less than $900,000 this past weekend. Five-week release puts it at $33 million, matching production costs. At this rate, the DVD can be released in time for Halloween. Start buying rubber snakes for the release parties.

The rule of thumb for feature-length film profitability is the movie must make 2.5x its production costs in order to be in the black (accounts for profit sharing with movie houses who play the film and (normal) marketing costs).
The last figures, U.S. plus international, had Snakes sitting in the 50-million range (IIRC).
Once Snakes hits 85-million in gross, they should be at-- or near-- black line accounting.
"I figured international would help bail them out. Europe and Asia seem to buy anything out of Hollywood. Surprised that the number might only top out at $50 mill.
But I thought they had a cool blog behind it?
;-p
