I was going to post something odd, hopefully funny and related to advertising. Spent an hour of research putting it together, even Photoshopping an image to go with it. Then, just one click away from stupidity, I remembered a reader here who had recently blogged about a negative event that was in a way life-changing for them.
The similar theme of my post would’ve unintentially been one big F-you to their experience though. Who knows, maybe they wouldn’t have taken it the way. But my gut says they would’ve. Then all I would hear would be Jeff Spicoli’s voice in my head: “YOU DICK!”
Which got me wondering, as I tend to at 4:20 am: Ever hold back when posting? Err on the side of caution on the chance you’ll be misunderstood and just not run it? Or do you just say screw it and go for broke?
Funny, but it was easier starting out because while you’re still publishing to the entire web, you’re not really thinking anyone is reading what you write. You could rant at everyone and yet nobody in particular. Not no more.
Obviously discretion is the better part of hitting ‘Publish’. I know we restrain ourselves from writing the obvious stuff that incites others to riot in public squares, or agency-related biz which could be a conflict of interest for us. That’s different than choosing to kill something outright though. So, ever do it?

Skins are thin out here - and I've held back on occassion, choosing to avoid a fight rather than pick one.
But even the most (seemingly)innocuous post can enrage some, and they come along in the comments (always anonymous) and call you "tard," "dick," and "clueless fuck."
What can you do...Go with your gut, especially at 4:20.
I'm pretty famous for drunk-blogging.
And I recall saying some pretty shitty things about a former partner of mine. Maybe I should go on the record and apologize. But I won't. It's part of my charm.
I have a multi-page MSWord document of posts I've written but not launched. I try to put the reason I didn't launch it in parentheses next to the title so I can remember why later. Sometimes you can post later on when it will still have impact for you, but not bum somone out. (Well someone you like anyway...)
Drunk-blogging. Qwerty hell at it’s finest, lol.
is that girl licking your hand? ew!
Lol slinky. Yah, that might’ve been me before I did the Bruce Willis better shave what's left off now thing.
C) is a good motivator.
Ouch. Hey, QUIT IT, Stop! What the...?
