Ross Halfin writes a very unsympathetic eulogy for James Brown in his blog. This is why I love Ross.
"James Brown has died. I think he thought he was the black Jesus. He liked to be called Mr Brown - when I photographed him, I had to call him Mr.Brown. I'm glad I shot him. I remember going into his dressing room at the House Of Blues in LA with Slash, Joe Perry and Jimmy Page. Mr. Brown was "entertaining a lady". He ignored us, until his manager insisted on introducing us. I got one snapshot, then Mr Brown turned his back on us and carried on entertaining - praise the lord!"
Can't give a decent hello to Slash, Joe and Jimmy? Reminds me of "Hail Hail Rock and Roll" when Chuck Berry is treating Keith Richards like his bitch.
Horrible to watch. Keith biting his tongue out of respect until later in the show, after a few stiff belts and Chuck out of earshot, he tells how he really feels about the Chuckster to the interviewer.
This has been another installment of Classic Moments in Obscure Rock Documentaries.

Funny he said that. I had that same thought when it was announced he would have a memorial service at the Apollo.
Seemed very much like the Pope lying in state at the Vatican.
