
No, it’s because all those things pushed the issue of Black History month and the ad industry issue of diversity to the side. There’s another Gaye we can be talking about too. (Ok, bad pun, kill me.) It’s a little something that hopefully brings the discussion back around to recognizing accomplishments – not poor agency stunts. Check out this rendition of the National Anthem by Marvin Gaye. Found it on Thomas Dolby’s blog, who has an interesting story about it as told to him by Stevie Wonder. It was the night before the four keyboard freaks – Howard Jones, Herbie Hancock, Dolby and Wonder – played the 1985 Grammy Awards.
