Poker cleans up its image.

I see your typical poker cliché and raise you. Saw this on Ernie’s and adrants, but here’s my two cents anyway. This WONGDOODY campaign for Full Tilt Poker is a definite improvement in the poker category. Check out some of the print here and here. Good moody feel to the print and all the various TV. Shot by Errol Morris, Thin Blue Line, Fog of War, Miller High Life and Apple Switch spots. He’s an Academy Award winning director who takes you inside the mind of the people who play the game, but in an understated fashion.

My only question is this:

Based on the typical online poker ads, is wongdoody playing it too sophisticated? Not to say that we should target the lowest common denominator, but would a “Bud Light,” “AXE” or “ESPN” advertising personality work better for this product and audience?

Yeah, but when you click on 'poker cliché' above and see the typical partypoker.net stuff out there, why not elevate things a little.

Besides, winning a huge jackpot is all the hottie-attracting Axe magic that poker dudes need.
