Contextual image fun.

Sure there’s awareness of the contextual text fun ad units like Intellitext bring to the table, but images in ads can change the page dynamic too. Saw this combo on Page 6 of the NY Post online edition. Now, in this case, I’m guessing either chicks dig Grindhouse–or Quentin. Based on the trailer for the former, I’m guessing it would more likely be the latter. (Delving further as I tend to, Ms. Bergdorf’s stare tells us she prefers the cinema verite of France.) This mashup is unintentional of course, but it does show how ads in the online space don’t live on an island. This happens in print too, but at least there it’s minimized since you don’t have the constant rotation factor you do online.
