I'll list three possible reasons out of a thousand.
1.) The US public is addicted to lawsuits and anyway of making a quick buck is a golden opportunity.
2.) Envy is a bitch.
3.) People magically develop feelings after becoming "famous" ie. being in the flick even in pixelated form. I think that if he wins the lawsuit, they should unblur his face. Fair trade. (True I wasn't the one being run down by Borat and his sexy time moustache.)
