The five worst fonts. Ever.

Brush Script, Peignot, Crillee, Cooper Black and Eras. Don’t even go “cool retro fonts!” either. These are Jurassic Park finds that need to remain dead.

*cough cough* Comic Sans *cough cough*

Brandon -- my thoughts exactly. What other font has sparked a grassroots movement to banish it from the planet? http://www.bancomicsans.com/ exists for just that purpose.

There are fonts overused to inject culture—Lithos is one prime culprit. Also hate all the fonts that look like graffiti.

I despise Brush Script, it's up there with Comic Sans.

The No. 5 spot was a tough one. Comic Sans did in fact make it to the final round.

I'm surprised Papyrus isn't up there.

Oh no, those are absolutely my top five most-hated worstest ever.

What about Remedy (Emigre font)- the one where the letter "o" is in the shape of a sun- lots of extra dots and rays and whatnot around every letter. Favorite font of kiddie stores and futon emporia everywhere.

you should hold a contest for the random logo project, where folks submit real logos using the five typefaces.

Papyrus must die.

And not a placid, quasi-Buddhist, transformation-to-another-plane-of-consciousness death. It must burn on the fires of a thousand Yellow Pages ads for day spas, accupuncture clinics, new-age bed-and-breakfasts and herbalist pharmacies.

No a bad idea HJ, if I wasn't feeeling so lazy this week.

Times and Times New Roman - you forgot these. Argh! They make text look so messy and amateur and like you just don't care. I know it's what most people use, but if I could take a knife to it, I would. Wow, blood pressure rising, going to have a cigarette to calm down.

Times is like a ceiling. It's everywhere you go and nobody really notices.

Eras however, should die.

+1 to Papyrus.

It's everyfreakenwhere

Banish Papyrus and Kudaisai will just take its place.

Brush Script used for Dolce & Gabbana's newest fragrance "light blue". Now that's Italian Design at it's finest. Puke

You forgot Sand.

I don't think Papyrus would be as despised as it is by designers if it weren't so overused by non-designers.

The worstest fonts ever:
1(T). Trajan and Impact (which are so seriously ludicrously horribly unbelievably dorky they should be renamed Dorkfont Roman and Dorkfont Sans Serif and never be used ever again)
3. Who cares what the third-worst font is! Point #1 says it all.
