My recent inclusion of Al ‘Internets Warming’ Gore in the twitter post got me thinking how much everyone loves him so much these days. But people may forget however that Al’s wife also took initiative. Back in tha day, she spurred a resurgence of those great American Classics fear and censorship with her PMRC coaliton. If you think all she did was make it easy for parents to know which CDs were appropriate for certain age groups by using little warning labels, then you missed out on the real zeitgeist of the time. Most music to them was the ruination of society, unless it was one of three approved groups: The Beach Boys, The Mamas and the Papas or Pat Boone. You know, wholesome stuff. Which would’ve excluded Frank Zappa, Twisted Sister and rap. And if you have teens, you know warning labels mean jack. FF >> to Chamillionaire.
Wha, what?
A rapper who’s been around for a little bit from what I understand, done time to earn that valuable record label street cred. Top it off with a no-snitch mantra, what’s not to love. I came across this clip for Hip Hop Police/Evening New from Universal Motown Group. Is it amazing? No. Best vid ever? No. And Eddie Murphy did the make-up thing in an SNL sketch years ago, followed by the more recent Dave Chappelle/John Mayer related issue of dancing, so that’s not the draw here either. But it does have a take on everything of note lately regarding race in America, certainly things Racialicious and HJ cover, and using a parody of CNN to deliver the message–a back and forth interview delivery style with future predictions crawling across the bottom, like news of the iRims™ collaboration between Russell Simmons and Steve Jobs.
This concludes the test of the MTLB™ broadcast system whereby I work Global Warming,
Chamillionaire and Steve Jobs into the same post.
