Interesting review from Advertising Pawn worth checking out on the evolution of gaming and specifically PlayStation’s efforts to rebrand itself. Two points come to mind. The article says people game because they can’t fully deal with reality. Eh, for some. I’d say lots of gamers play sports titles simply because they can’t play real sports. (Others who are athletes both amateur and pro are also avid gamers.) Secondly, before Playstation left the cheesy Super Mario days behind and went surreal with its latest David Lynch funkiness, it dabbled in more sophomoric waters and the games come to life world of Ratchet and Clank. Which was perfect for that audience. What kid or teen hasn’t imagined their games actually working in the real world?
