Something outside the realm.

Many people in advertising will say you need to have a life outside the business, that you have to do something to keep the batteries recharged, whatever form that takes. This is one such project. It’s a documentary on the original LA graf scene called 12 oz created by a talented designer/graf artist friend of mine who lived the life back then. The dudes interviewed in the trailer here are the real deal from back in the day. Shot in a way that’s less flashy than other docs on the subject too with limited use of color, it’s one of those special projects I’m privileged to be associated with in different ways. All the credit goes to him though for sticking with it, even when life sometimes made it hard to continue. There’ll be more info about it as it gets closer to being done, but I wanted to share this. (It’s also going to go into every festival out there including Sundance.) Just a brief note from a tech POV, shooting digital hi-def at 24 fps is nice. While not exactly film, it’s pretty damn good, even though you lose a little something viewing it on YouTube.

That looks like it's going to be a great film. I was fascinated by the way the West Coast guys used only black. Great picture quality too. Please pass on my regards to your friend. Best...Stan
