This is your captain, Lyle Lovett.

You could’ve won a cruise with John Mayer and his favorite bands, but no, you waited too long. Now you’ll have to pay to board the Mayercraft carrier like everyone else. Or, take Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Simple Man cruise, Ships and Dip with Barenaked Ladies perhaps, The Rock Boat with Toad The Wet Sprocket or Lyle Lovett & friends. Don’t know if this modern day version of the dinner theater kills your career or adds some funk to the resume, but that’s a lot of bands for your cruising dollar people. And a lot of dollars for the headlining bands. Figure roughly on just one cruise, 2,500+ passengers x $700 min = that’s why Mayer’s grinning. Dinner theatre doesn’t pay that well. (The series of cruises start mid-January of 2008 out of Miami produced by Sixthman.)

Geez, I hadn't heard about John Mayer's.

I so wanted to be on Ships & Dips this year. Damn it.

i think $700 is a pretty good deal for what your getting - but i know all of that doesn't go in his pocket. the cruise line isn't giving him all the dough - and the other bands get paid too, right?

@anon-Oh no, for sure it gets split, I'm just saying, $700 is the minimum price. The high end of the scale is 1-2K for rooms so you know it's a pretty sweet gig for a musician for four days at sea.

Performing for Mike and Jean Webster from Warren, OH while they scoff down their 4th plate of wings. Each.
