In reviewing final copy for Valley Fresh Steamers vegetables packaging, please find attached our suggested copy revision. While it is possible most consumers do know that water heated at high temperature by means of either flame, electric or microwave cooking methods produces steam, we feel it necessary to enhance the impact of the warning area to include the word ‘HOT’, (as indicated in the lighter portion of the image).
It is also possible that there may be one or two people who could possibly interpret ‘CAUTION: STEAM’ as being gentle to the touch. Therefore, the introduction of ‘HOT’ should serve to clear up any possible misunderstanding during food preparation, and additionally, serve to minimize the possibility of any litigious events in the case of accidental dermatological exposure to extreme temperatures, thus, limiting General Mills’ responsibility in said litigious events.

Fred in legal.

To say nothing about the very thought of eating a "steamer" which brings up a whole suggested copy revision.
Letterman's point is a good one. I assume these won't be very popular in Cleveland.
