Who knew. The average age of an Element buyer is 44.7 years old.

This is actually a brilliant marketing case study. Honda launched the Element with an ad campaign targeting the early 20s-something hip surfer crowd, with print ads showing the Element parked on a beach and with its (wink-wink) fold-down seats.

Honda was surprised to find that aging 40somethings snapped up the car. Turns out the waterproof floor is perfect for schlepping kids spilling soda in a ride a bit hipper than a minivan.

I love that. Or maybe men in a midlife crisis just need fold-down seats ...
