The soldier’s art.
“Soldiers take an oath to defend the Constitution, but let me tell you, what they’re really defending is libraries and museums and the memories of the human species, and that’s an awesome responsibility.”

Great story; thanks. After leaving the Army, I earned my BA and MA in English. I wrote my MA thesis on sociological, historical, and political uses of military non-fictional literature; i.e., memoirs, diaries, biographies, historical records, etc etc etc. And with the proliferation of and access to electronic media, the story of the solider is more heard now than ever. This helps us understand the soldier and his mission, as well as how it impacts society, history and politics in a complete different light. Anyway, thanks again for the link.
