Vegas: Come for the strippers—stay for the tax breaks?
The Nevada Development Authority has put out what they call guerilla marketing to lure business to Nevada. (I guess tv ads are considered *guerilla* in the capitol of the *new* Mega West.) With the nation’s highest unemployment rate (14%), they’re trying to lure businesses there and hopefully lower those numbers. There’s not much else they can do. Nobody looking for a job will go there if the locals themselves are having trouble finding work, so why not pitch businesses. They basically focus on luring people away from choosing California. The spot though comes off more like they’re recruiting businesses from California, rather than pitching the rest of the country, but whatever. It’s got an orangutan!
