Aka, bad moves in Atlanta Falcons PR history.

“Yeah, no, Roddy, this’ll work, trust me. After you score tonight, lift up your jersey, and underneath, ready for it? FREE MIKE VICK! Trust me. Gonna be HUGE. ESPN, the media, even the bloggers will be all over it. Fine from the league? Yeah, probably. But think of the press! That’s tip money for you. What? Yell Attica too? No, that’s overkill. Just stay with the Free Mike theme. Think of the solidarity you’ll be showing him. It’ll be cool. Huh? What if you don’t score? Never happen. The town is united behind you guys all the way baby. You’re gonna win by four or five TDs at least. I have a feeling. Trust me.”

Yes. It's brilliant. You can claim to care for a friend and co-worker but instead of having to reach out to his family or perform some similarly difficult, time-consuming and meaningful gesture, you simply take a minute to draw attention to yourself. On TV.

Man did I post that story too early. Who knew there was more fun on the way. Atalanta just got Sabanized.

Sabanized -- excellent new word. Better than w00t.

If football doesn't work out, maybe Saban and Petrino should consider jobs as CMOs. The rapid turnover would suit them.
