not to get too obsessive here, but the only person this logo does NOT look like is the real (dead) colonel sanders. the hair is too straight, the head is too oval, and he's looking younger than ever. those eleven herbs and spices must have some sort of rejuvenating effects, a veritable fountain of fried youth.
Um, he looks like Burl Ives in this. Also - why the apron? He should be in a proper white suit with a mint julep in his hand. Not plucking feathers and deep frying parts. I declare!
If you look at it long enough, you will start to hear "Have a holly jolly Christmas, it's the best time of the year - oh by golly have a holly jolly Christmas, this year!" Followed shortly by "She thinks I'm cuuuuute!"
If you don't know these references, you are too young to be reading ad blogs.
didn't the colonel sing too? and i don't mean the cartoon colonel. i seem to recall the old man singing, "if you want kentucky fried chicken, you'll have to visit meeeee." or am i confusing him with burl ives?

you know what the craziest part is? placing the tm next to the bow tie. as if somebody's gonna rip off this icon.
plus, this rendition kinda makes the colonel look like the late pat morita.
I was thinking more like Charlie Daniels. But after you said that, he is more Miyagi-ish.
actually, i originally thought morita because of the bizarre beard-like thing on his chin.
the logo actually looks like somebody different everytime you look at it.
suddenly, it's starting to resemble janet reno.

Burl Ives it is.
"AD LAW!"
at one point, i thought of ives too. but take another look. tell me it is not tom arnold.
or if the logo wasn't so cheery, i might say it's supposed to be george parker.
I see your Tom Arnold and raise you a Newt Gingrich.
it's david letterman's mother. she even wears the same apron when baking pies for dave.
It's Burl Ives.

Only spot I remember with the actual Colonel was when he was outside under some tree and a bunch of kids running around.
