Tostitos art show.

(I’m on road again ’Til Tuesday, hence the 50 posts ahead of time below.) Caught this Tostitos Fiesta Bowl spot. Kid showing parents his artwork like little bastards do. The usual cute stuff, until he gets to the picture of “mommy and daddy wrestling.” Again, I’m no prude, but it’s inappropriate for a family brand. All pro sports leagues that brands like Tostitos partner with go out of their way to maintain that wholesome family image thing. (Even though we all know the type of fan who really goes to games and beer commericals all use cheerleaders, yatta.) Still not right in this context.

It’s a funny joke, but it sure seems like that was the only consideration. Why not also have Little Chuckie act out what he heard mommy say too. By the way, just how much time did the he actually have to go get his drawing pad and crayons, then sit there and draw? Seems like a better spot for Kwikset door locks. One more thing: how about the number of brand messages? Which one is it: “Meet me at the Tostitos or ‘Good things happen at the Tostitos?’

As for Consumer Generated Parody? Well Tostitos, you asked for it. Here you go.

Not sure I understand your alarm here, Bill. The spot likely ran during a football game. Most kids wait until they're in grade school before they actually sit down with Dad to watch a whole game - and by then they can describe for you 27 different heterosexual positions, to say nothing of what they know about trannies, threesomes, beastiality and necrophilia.

Agreed on the number of messages. And not in love with the hip-factor of "The Tostitos," as if it's a place.

That said, we're doing Nachos tonight for the Gator game. (And we always use Tositos.)

Yes, I said Gator game.

No, I was thinking not of exposure to kids, but that the adult theme/joke wasn't appropriate for the brand.
