Showing it clearly grasps the interweb thing, China announced it was banning anonymous comments in one city because of public outcry voiced via cell phone text messages over environmental concerns at a new chemical plant. A government spokesperson has responded: “This new law actually helps people save money. First, making up laws on the fly saves time and taxpayer money. Second, and more importantly, we normally would have to pay workers to sit there and trace the IP addresses of all anonymous comments. Now, with people having to use their real names, we cut out the middleman by going directly to homes to beat our citizens.”
