One more reason to hate Starbucks–one more to love Apple?

Forget the $200, you’ll get some money back, just chill. Apple’s other big move, is a an iBucks Starbucks partnership to run iTunes as part of new retail stores converted from existing Starbucks outlets. (Maybe Zune can partner with DQ?) This is either a really good idea or something that bloats Starbucks further. (So much for the whole Sir Paul marraige I guess.)

Oh, and that free wi-fi thing needs to get figured out real quick or this idea will tank. Gonna tell iTunes users they have to now pay to access the service on top of their regular iPhone charges? Good luck with that.

I'm not sure if I'm reading you correctly, but from what I heard, the deal with the Starbucks thing was that iPhone/iPod Touch users would have free access to the wi-fi network in the coffee shops, but that it would be limited to the particular feature...i.e., you can't surf the web free over the T-mobile hotspot, but you can download the songs that are playing.

You are. That's my point. Starbucks is cutting out a certain portion of its customer base by only allowing free T-Mobile. If I want to use iTunes and I don't have an iPhone, I'd have to stream via T-Mobile––if I had an account.

I just think it makes sense for them to both reach as many customers as possible. For a man of vision, Jobs seems to be short-sighted in only offering T-Mobile.

I'm thinking as an experiment for all the other people who hate that I'm proposing Starbucks give away its internet: maybe agree to buy a song from iTunes for .99¢ in exchange for free internet?
