Funny how networks manage to
avoid the mess ad agencies get themselves into when it comes to
stealing ideas, er, ‘reimagining’–aka a
George Parker homage–then calling it their own. You just take a character that
kinda looks like they could be from another show, switch her occupation, change her hair color, and team them up with actresses from yes,
other shows. I just saw this ad for a new ABC show. No clue what the show is, but I can guess by the title that it’s women detectives doing something. “Hey, she looks like the medical examiner from...and she’s was a detective on...and that one was a lawyer on...” The secret is that each one looks like they
could be on any other popular CSI/detective-type show. I wanna say Hollywood has no freaking shame when it comes to this, but compared to some ad agencies, they actually do a better job of at least disguising their sources.
