If there’s the word ‘bear’ in your name, I expect to see one.

One of the stops on tour had us at the Black Bear Diner in Medford, OR. Bears on everything. Wood carving door posts. Coffee cups. Menus. Ashtrays. Curtains. Condoms. Name it. Even the portions were enough for a bear. Although the one thing missing that I’d expect to see after flying across country, then driving one thousand miles is, well, an actual bear. Instead, it’s ironic that I had to come back home to NJ for that, where the first thing people think of isn’t bears on curtains, but The Sopranos and how ‘safe’ Trenton/Newark is. To the locals here in the Northwest part of the state though, brand black bear is alive and well. Like tonight when one walked in front of our house. Caution: Bear in video is a lot bigger than it appears—all 300+ lbs of it. Apologies in advance for the Bigfoot sighting Flip camera shakiness, but when a curtain comes to life, there’s no time for a tripod.

Nice bear - nice wooded terrain. But the real question is: what's on that foamcore sign on the lawn?

We have big bear in Vegas too...of the diner variety. But we have banished all wildlife to the mountains. Vegas for for human consumption only!
