Because even activists need checking accounts?

I get the point of the spot, but I think it’s way off and does more to annoy than connect. All this says is true love overcomes all. Make no mistake HSBC, she’d burn down all your banks with her friends if given the chance. But hey, least you guys got to go out and film with ‘real loggers.’ Next up: PETA activist living with a commercial fisherman argue over his 401k.

When it comes to messaging, banks don't have to many options these days. "We're not idiots like UBS and Citibank, and have most of our money in safe investments in China and the Middle East. Hell, we're run by a Scot, and you know how tight those fucks are with money!" might be the truth, and has a certain attraction to some segment of the market, but really is a bit esoteric to be HSBC's branding statement.

I mean it's a valiant attempt to try and create some sort of link between HSBC and the video at the end... but still the disconnect between the bank and the activist is way too big a hurdle, especially without any context for why she's so angry about what looks like a not-very-special tree being cut down to build... well, it could be a hospital for all we know.

I was hoping it was just found footage but clearly they shot it.
