Facebook profiles don’t kill people...

You stay hunting, Betsy Ramsdale! Because when guns are outlawed, only 6th graders will have Facebook. Remember, athletes are role models—not teachers. More snark was about to unfurl, but one all comments here sum it up better that I ever could. As for the notion that this took place in her “private time” and so what’s the big deal, well, sure, fine. It’s not like Facebook is on the internet or anything.

Enjoy!*

“Since when do teachers freedoms end when she signs a contract to teach? I think not. People must remember that police also can't be every place at one time. Our officers do one heck of a job. I applaud here for being able to be defend herself, and that in itself aids lawenforcement. It is a sad day when women must hang their heads low for being able to defend themselves, and proud to show it.”

Actually looking at Beaver Dam's location, I would say she has gotten caught in the increasingly common Urban/Rural lifestyle conflict.

And fair or not, teachers have always been held to very (sometimes unfairly) high standards - with times in our past when single women could not teach, divorced women could not teach, and let me assure you every moment of the off-the-job time scrutinized!

To deter employers from viewing social networking pages, employees might post on their pages legal terms of service under which employers agree to scram. This idea should not be taken as legal advice for any particular situation, just a topic for public discussion. --Ben
