“Okay, what if we have chimps with guns. Is that legal?”

This past Thursday Plaid set up a presentation on copyright law and the internet from Michael McSunas of Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel. (Adlawguy on Twitter.) As former in-house council for McCann on GM, basically, he was the guy who would tell you which scenarios in your TV spot were go/no-go. (No, the title of the post wasn’t a scenario he faced by creative teams.) What he does now though is work with various agencies to guide them online in their social media strategies by policing what you can and can’t say. Without giving away the presentation, it’s common sense stuff. (For example, just because they’re public figures kids, doesn’t mean you don’t have to pay them.) There’s also a bunch of stuff you may not be aware of too, like fun with trademarks or cease and desist emails. It’s free for agencies and it’s a unique self-promo effort for CBS. Give him a shout.
