Sorta. Honda has a new series of short films out directed by Joe Berlinger and Derek Cianfrance that seem almost TED-like in their message. The driving theme is about The Power of Dreams, and it’s sometimes deep, sometimes inspirational. Even though auto sales are down across the board from where they’ve been historically, Honda’s effort here contrasts with the efforts of GM and Chrysler, which are both trying to get their collective heads (and brands) back above water. (Good luck, thanks to news from China.) Hard to try anything experimental like this until that happens though. It’s the kind of things healthy brands can afford to focus on.
