Ideas are cheap?

Saw this response to Jason Calacanis and it’s one I’ve seen by a few people from time to time. Disagree. It’s not ideas that are cheap, it’s that good ideas are hard to come by. There’s a lot of agencies making a lot of money off of mediocre thinking. Execution isn’t the issue either, not when you execute against average. Having a client not be afraid to move beyond safe? Beats everything else.

Totally disagree> Spoken like an old school tape editor. IDEAS are first, and they're far from cheap. And as the UGC crowd has taught us, a good idea doesn't even have to be executed nicely.
