Katrina plus five.
Whenever Katrina is mentioned, it’s almost always in the context of New Orleans exclusively, when neighboring states of Alabama and Mississippi were also hit. New York Times photojournalist Brenda Ann Kenneally revisited some of the families she first shot in Children of the Storm after the hurricane it. The two profiles in her video show how much of an effect it had (and still has) on an economic lower class. Unsettling though is the thought that the eldest daughter has aspirations to do more in life, but their surroundings clearly foster little hope.
