Why the iPhone failed.

“Instead, the iPhone is going to fail because its design is fundamentally flawed.”

Oops. It’s always interesting to take a look back and see the big pronouncements about the *it* thing of the moment that was going to rewrite the book in its respective category, even if it is a fairly recent look from just three years ago. Of course hindsight being what it is, anyone can look like Nostradamus—or an idiot. (Maybe I’ll be wrong about Ping, but I doubt it.) In this case, it was thought Apple sorely underestimated the market for an iPod-inspired touchscreen approach mostly because they thought that their users were like themselves. As conventional wisdom goes, you are not your user.

Since great minds think alike, it’s also important to remember the words of Steve Ballmer: “Let’s face it, the internet was designed for the PC. The Internet is not designed for the iPhone.”

Clearly.

The design is flawed, I have heard complaints of dropped calls, issues with the proximity sensor and other things that have turned me off to the Iphone for sure. I'll stick with my Droid..for now at least!
