An army of contextual fun.

What is in the water lately. Another messed up contextual nightmare. So you’re reading an article, (click image to enlarge), when one of Excite’s wonderful full-page ads again interrupts things. But it goes so well with the article! Look, how hard is it for brands to tell their agencies do not run our ads on pages with stories about murder, rape and other Darwin Award candidates?

Oh see, this would be an easy fix. If you take ads from the Army, you just make sure not to run any negative stories about the Army. If you get ads from Honda, just don't post stories about car accidents. It's easy.

In an agency I've worked at there was this fabulous case of a health insurance provider getting their ad posted on the same page there was a news article talking about 4 patients filing lawsuits because they were denied treatmen. Could this be bad strategy or just fate finally delivering the karmic bitch slap I so yearn for. I dunno, but I can still smile . :D
