Is a court-ordered 18 minute long PSA something college kids might actually listen to? Forgetting for a sec the contextual madness of Chevy’s college ad on the same page as a hazing death story, will kids get the message, that’s the thing. Dunno. I sense more than a little lack of sincerity from one of the guilty parties in the video and kids always think it’ll never happen to them. (Both clips can be viewed on this page.) Still, 18 minutes is a long time to get your message out to a media savvy audience. And while the lawyer and family of the victim hope to travel around to colleges to spread the word, why no YouTube placement to help with that?

Any message that bores and lasts more than five minutes will fall on deaf ears or overly sympathetic ones. Don't believe me? Then I propose one thing. Go to mass and see who really pays attention and who's there running on auto pilot.
