A master of cold you can believe in.

Is Colorado’s Breckenridge Brewery ‘Beervertising’ a little forced? As a name, maybe, but the overall tone of the spots is the low-key approach Sam Adams has wanted to own but can no longer lay claim to. YOU LIKE THEM TOO. (More after the jump.)

He once chased lions, just to see how it felt.

We got some mileage on the campaign now but it’s still holding steady. (Another after the jump.)

Please drink and pay undo attention to yourself responsibly.

Judge a man by his drink... not the way he stops mid-step to gaze longingly at himself. Here’s to you, Mr. Self-Absorbed Drambuie Man. Fresh from a quick ride and shower for a night out on the town. He’s probably too caught up in the moment to realize they stripped in a different shot in the mirror.

Same as it ever was with Martell.

...and the rest of the liquor industry and their lifestyle shot porn. Except, nice to see a little different spin on why all those people stand around in booze ads. Martell recreates art from the past – in print. (Wait, paint was print, sorta, no?) It’s a series that can get old fast if all they do is stay in the party circuit, but, clever! Except, dude in the middle? Take a cue from your boy in 1715 and DO NOT HOLD A BOTTLE THAT WAY – EVER. (Uno más after the jump.)

Be the man.

When you’re out getting hammered this holiday, get a ride home. DIDDY DOES IT ALL THE TIME.  CÎROC vodka is handing out 2,000 $25 *free* rides to you, the man with “yellow cabs and participating livery car services [...] rides on MTA, PATH, and NJ Transit” in Manhattan. (Next giveaway dates on December 17 & 25.) That’s $50K for 11 miles worth of pubcrawl. Based on current NYC cab rates, that means you can start drinking in Chelsea, hit Midtown, then back again – with tip! I dig the responsibility of the brand to offer the service, but damn, that’s a lot of cash to spend on a safe rides program in one city. Join up with them on the App, T and the F lines.*

*No T in the NYC subway system for now, but see what I did there with the subway humor?

Swallow fail.

It’s a long way for Actionaid to go here in making the point about poverty and companies like Grolsch owner SABMiller who allegedly avoid their tax burdens. The pitch I received actually sums up the whole point that the video was aiming for:

“They’re the world’s second biggest brewer, making profits of £2 billion, with headquarters just off Park Lane. The taxes they dodge in Africa could put an extra 250,000 children in school there. When big companies dodge their taxes, ordinary people end up paying more. That’s why ActionAid is committing itself to schtop tax dodging.”

Stunts outside corporate help though, no?

Raise a can... or two.

What’s Thanksgiving without beer and human towers, aka, castells, those vertical collections of humanity you see in travel guides. To honor the recognition by UNESCO, of  Catalonian’s castellers as being culturally significant, Moritz beer skipped the people and replicated one of those towers via beer can animation. C’mon, it’s cute in a Gumby sorta way, no? Heritage!

The mouth that roared.

Look, I like these spots. First Coach Ditka, now Keyshawn Johnson and Dick Butkus (after the jump). So obviously fake that they work. Less forced than the reverse-engineered borrowed interest of the coach press conference series.

Getting their RÖKKs off.

See what I did there? Yeah, you did, didn’t ya. This is the first effort from RÖKK Vodka’s new *creative directors* The Lonely Island. Yeah, that Lonely Island from I’m On A Boat fame. The upstart vodka decided to go out and hire Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, figuring they would do for the brand what no agency could, in effect cutting out the middle man. See what they did there?

Jose Cuervo in the cue.

Cue the Cuervo is a solid little twist on the lifestyle approach for the spirit category, and less aggressive than the brand’s previous work. Good wordplay sans pun, and not nearly as macho as some other spirits have gotten (cue the Ketel One). Also check out The Apartment on their site as well. But if you do overplay the Cuervo? Cue yourself a cab with their app that locates the closest safe ride home.

Here at KAHLÚA, we call it delicioso.

So much for sacrifices at the alter of the gods. KAHLÚA’s new campaign hits the same tongue in cheek vibe of Dos Equis’ Most Interesting Man – shhh, it does — mostly because of the Penélope Cruz knock-off, who sells it so hard you can’t refuse her. Watch her throw out more Spanishness after the jump...

“You don’t have to put out the red wine...”

“Synchronicity lead me to craft a red wine blend of varieties not commonly seen together. The light and dark nature of the music pointed to a red blend that could express both a friendly and heavy side. Sting's unique vocals sent me searching for something special and powerful for the wines ‘voice’.”

Billed as "Great Tasting Wines Inspired by the Music of the Police,” I’m not really sure I want to know what walking on the moon tastes like. IT’S POLICE WINE THOUGH WITH THE BITTER STING OF ROBUSTNESS. Order you some now!

Coors Right.

Coors Light and me go way back. Which is to say, I’ve hated every NFL spot they’ve done to this point, aka, all the ones writing around the borrowed interest of press conferences and game footage. But this is so over the top ridiculous that I can’t help but like a voice sounding nothing like Ditka, and a main actor less forced than in their other spots.

Grab some Buds, bud.

Digging the whole spirit of this new Budweiser spot, with the “Grab” line serving as sign-off/call to action. I also dig the pre-game ritual theme that includes bras, brats and beer enough to forgive one question mark. I don’t care that baseball is heading into the playoffs, the spot ran all weekend during NFL games with emphasis on Busch Stadium—they couldn’t make a stop at Edward Jones Dome for a little B-roll? (Who cares about that though when it’s free Bud day on 9/29.)

Corona does Bud.

Sorta. When you have an iconic ad campaign, eventually you’re faced with the inevitable decision: how long do you stick with it? So an Absolute (insert whatever) becomes In an Absolute World. Corona has been evolving their classic look towards new scenarios and different perspectives. To that end, they’ve been running this girl gets even approach for months. On the surface, the latest one above where guy gets football skirts Bud territory. Regardless of why two women *may* be on the beach together—NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT—the guy and his football-chucking friends are reduced to their typical beer ad persona: Impress hot chicks.

Friends don’t let friends turn into...

Not sure if we’re back to being Real Men™ or not yet—Miller Lite seems to think so—but until we know for sure, Neil Diamond is the perfect compliment to anything slo-mo.

New Balance’s pub shoes for pub crawls.

To promote the 20th anniversary of their 526 style shoe, New Balance in England (where they have a factory) has come up with three versions named after pubs. Save for Michelob Ultra here in the states, alcohol and exercise has been the one relationship you generally don’t see explored in advertising. The King's Head, The Red Lion and The Royal Oak do sound a bit more formal than an “Al’s Place” edition of Converse.

HELL YEAH GROLSCH!

Starring Dave Grolsch on drums. Ouch. Grolsch says the hell with responsibility, live in the now, now. Okay, so no Grohl, but the track is The Soft Pack’s Answer to Yourself.

(Agency: DDB Amsterdam. Via Amsterdam Ad Blog.)

Because nothing goes together like farm equipment and beer.

Not just any beer either, but Pabst. Ice cold, refreshing! Now, help me sharpen this blades.
