“Bad is never good until worse happens.”

I can’t even say crazier than a shithouse rat because it just doesn’t apply anymore. Tim at AdFreak found Gary Busey Business GOLD in the form of 40 spots for a new company called GotVMail. I mean, I wanna cry after witnessing this, but tears fail.

Tears fail.

This is so bad, it's good.

I call this "huh?" advertising, which always breaks through. See: HeadOn.

Ha! Actually, Ben, I think the Gary Busey cycle is a little different than the head-on campaign, if only because head-on is more obvious, and kitschy, self-parody. It is much more difficult to describe to co-workers why Gary Busey is talking about your voicemail provider and using phrases like "stupid misfortunate placenta"...a totally separate category of camp, if we use Sontag's loose rubric.

In any case, I think it's interesting how ad spots like these only really work online -- can you imagine these running as tv spots in between Anderson Cooper or CSPAN? They look more like something off Conan. Perfect for youtube, but I wonder if they'd play in primetime.
