So where’s the U.S.A. spot wishing them well?

Maybe I missed it in all the opening night hoopla, but this Aussie* Beijing Olympics spot from Qantas does a nice job of showing how the country supports their team. Yeah, it’s about an airline, but it’s about country first. Can’t recall seeing anything by a major brand here with the same tone. Guess a credit card is more important than the athletes.

Yesterday you were crying foul to the staid uncreative tv presentation of the games with numbing announcers and overly gushing former athletes. I liked your point. The whole affair misses an opportunity to build freshness and appeal and take advantage of a connected audience. Today you are lamenting the absence of the traditional brand hoorah spot.
Do you want to eat turkey and watch the macy's thanksgiving day parade or not?

It’s probably a desperate attempt by Qantas to lure Aussie citizens to fly to the Games. I think the airline has even laid off the koala bear, who now has even more reasons to hate Qantas.

gordon-I’m only lamenting the absence of cheering for the home team in the spots, not the selling of the product. The Qantas spot is about country first, product second. I’m not seeing that in other spots for Team USA.
