when i was a young boy, my dad once asked me what i wanted to do with the square metre of ex-flowerbed in the back garden he was giving me. Did i want a sandpit or a concrete track for my toy cars, he wondered?
I decided to go for a sandpit, having the foresight to realise that i could use it for a multitude of purposes; sculpting an endless array of car tracks from it, rather than being stuck with a permanent hard-set one.
don't think i ever did anything as grand as this though. but then i was only five years old.
